Mad Love for Muji

Muji Philosophy

MUJI is not a brand whose value rests in the frills and "extras" it adds to its products.
MUJI is simplicity - but a simplicity achieved through a complexity of thought and design.
MUJI's streamlining is the result of the careful elimination and subtraction of gratuitous features and design unrelated to function.
MUJI, the brand, is rational, and free of agenda, doctrine, and "isms."  The MUJI concept derives from us continuously asking, "What is best from and individual's point of view?"
MUJI aspires to modesty and plainness, the better to adapt and shape itself to the styles, preferences, and practices of as wide a group of people as possible.  This is the single most important reason people embrace MUJI.

MUJI - in its deliberate pursuit of the pure and the ordinary - achieves the extraordinary.

Yes! Bridgette always brings it! I check in on MUJI every once in a while and a few weeks back I happend upon this chair as well. I love the curve of the back that extends down to the leg. Beautiful. My main curiosity was how comfortable would this piece be? As a furniture designer what do you think? Do you know anyone that has purchased it?

Heather! Somehow I missed your comment (way back when), and am so happy to 'see' you here. :) I think this chair is such a stunning rendition of the traditional Thonet bentwood chair, reduced to perfection. I don't know anyone who has it, but I'm guessing it's as comfortable as one of those? The table they designed to go with it is great too--the back horizontal rail matches its height. I recently went to a MUJI store (JFK Jet Blue terminal) and was in pure heaven. Have you been to one?
