Upcoming show, opening Dec 2!
For my upcoming show at Connect in Chicago, organized by Simpletype Studio, I'm making 24 light boxes exploring daylight during winter; each one represents 1 hour of the day of the opening. Here are some work-in-progress shots.
HUGE thanks to my shop assistant, Britton Bertran. :) Araidia Blackburn also put in time, which I am very grateful for!
If you're in Chicago, come see the show, opening Dec 2, 6-9.

I love this chair.
Dang, I wish I had designed this. The Careem Chair chair by Karim Rashid for Council nears perfection:

Textiles + structure = bustles, sometimes
I've been thinking a lot about the architectural/ structural possibilities of fabric, and coming across this image of a Langtry Bustle kind of blew my mind.

Sock Monkey Blanket for my Sis!
I tend to put up posts in slow motion, but this one had a good reason--I was making a surprise blanket for my sister for her bambino-on-the-way. It was my first attempt at applique, and I think it went pretty well!
Using an image from the great wide internet, I made a template to cut the fabric then ironed it on using fusible webbing. I stitched over the edges to secure it and to add detail. I used 100% cotton batting as the middle layer.
Test run for the stitching--no iron on. |
